Welcome to Knits Gone Bad--Make Your Next Damn Sweater Fit

Karen Wilson Wehrle, professional tailor and knitting fool!

Karen Wilson Wehrle, professional tailor and knitting fool!

Hello, fellow knitter. Welcome to my knitting blog. Thanks for stopping by. I’m Karen Wilson Wehrle, a professional tailor who knits.

Did the world really need another knitting blog?

Maybe not so much, but here I’ll share my enthusiasm for the craft and help other knitters or would-be knitters who might need assistance with knitting math, knitting mistakes, fitting tips or whatever else comes up.

Knitting is an adventure.

Even the best knitters have failed projects or things that don’t turn out quite as expected. Please let me know what you’re knitting. I’ll show you mine. I hope most are successes, but you’ll see the mess-ups, too. Then I’ll show how I fix them.

Thanks for spending time with me. I’ll do my best to make it worth your while. Please share your thoughts on the various posts in the comments. Happy knitting!

Best,

Karen

P.S.

I’d love it if you would opt-in for my free report, Knitting Mistakes–Top Ten Easy Ways to Ruin a Hand-Knitted Sweater.  It’s there on the right. Don’t let another sweater go bad!

  • Thank you for stopping by my blog! I’ll make sure you get an invitation to the webinar for next Tuesday. I’ll just need your email address. You can send it to me at jeanne@callintouch.com.

I want you to know that I took knitting tonight to a karaoke bar. Lots of folks came over to my table to ask me what I was making. HA! My husband has learned that if I can’t take my knitting, I probably won’t go.

  • Hi Jeanne,
I never leave home without it–my knitting, that is. Even for a 5-minute trip, because you just never know what might hold me up and be a knitting opportunity. I get antsy if I have to stand around like a goof. I’d rather knit.

  • I’m a crafter so I can appreciate your knitting blog. I didn’t see your comments in the beginning of Connie Green’s 30-day challenge but I found you now! I will be following your blog going forward. So happy to have found another crafty type.

  • Hi Diane,
I’m delighted to meet another crafty type, no matter when! Nice blog you have there. I’m following it.

  • Hi Karen,
Thanks for your comments on my blog.
    I crochet (does that count).
I only make simple things as presents for friends. Little cute bags and hats for my daughter’s girlfriends and I love making crochet flowers. I can sit and do that for hours. It’s very therapeutic. It’s great to see you writing about something you love and are an expert in – keep it up.
    much love

  • Hi Heather,
I crochet, too. I made a watch strap recently because knit just wasn’t firm enough. Somehow I can see you amidst a bounty of crochet flowers with a smile on your face. Nice!

  • Hello everyone..

It is so nice to meet some expert knitters here..I love this blog..its so informative.

I’m currently knitting socks with two circular knitting needles and I’m enjoying it!

    Have a happy knitting!

Michelle´s last blog ..Bamboo Circular Knitting Needles – Are They Really Good in Quality? My ComLuv Profile

  • Hi Michelle,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I love to knit two socks at a time on circular needles. I never get second sock syndrome that way. Also my socks match. If I’m a little tense when doing the heel flaps, both socks will have the same tension.

Ideally, I would have nice even tension from top to toe, but I’m a human being, not a knitting machine. My daughter once called me a “knitting fool” and I liked it. Perhaps that proves her point? Hee!

I’m out of sock yarn at the moment and it’s awful! My sweater project ran out of yarn, too. So I went hunting up a skein of lace weight yarn for something to knit, but haven’t found it yet. Yikes!

Where do you store your yarn? I don’t have much. You’d think I could find it all.
